Your clients, your service, our space
See the studio before you book.
Renting the Pilates studio at 41 Union Square West means booking apparatus hours, not a monthly membership or a class pass. You reserve the equipment and the floor space for the block of time your client is with you, and you pay only for that block. There is no requirement to sign up for a set number of hours a week and no penalty for a slow month — the calendar simply reflects however many hours you book.
The apparatus on the floor
The studio is built around a working set of classical Pilates equipment rather than a single reformer bolted to the wall. Instructors move between apparatus within a session depending on what a client's body needs that day and what is open on the floor that hour.

Who rents this room
The instructors who book this floor are almost always certified Pilates teachers who already have their own clients — people they trained in a studio elsewhere, met through a referral, or built a following with online who now want in-person sessions. This is not a room for group mat classes and it is not staffed with front-desk booking on your behalf; you bring the client relationship, and the room supplies the apparatus, the floor and the calendar. Comprehensively certified instructors, reformer-only certified instructors and instructors specializing in rehabilitation or prenatal work all use the space, provided their certification covers the apparatus they intend to use.
What a 55-minute session looks like
Sessions are structured in 55-minute blocks rather than a full 60, and that missing five minutes is deliberate: it is the time an instructor needs to reset springs, wipe down equipment and clear the mat before the next booking begins. A typical session starts with the client on a reformer or mat for a warm-up sequence, moves to a wall tower or high chair for standing and balance work, and may finish on a ladder barrel for spinal extension — all inside the one booked hour, without switching rooms. Bookings run on the hour, half-hour or quarter-hour, so a 7:15am client and an 8:10am client can both be accommodated without wasted gaps in the calendar.
Certification and insurance
Before your first apparatus hour is confirmed, we need a copy of your valid Pilates certification and proof of professional liability insurance that names the studio entity as additional insured. Most liability policies already carried by working instructors can add this at no extra cost — it is typically a one-line endorsement, not a new policy. We keep both documents on file for as long as you are actively booking.
Peak versus off-peak hours
Apparatus demand follows the working day: Weekdays 7:00–11:00am and 4:00–8:00pm, plus Saturday 8:00am–2:00pm are our peak windows, when instructors are chasing the same before-work and after-work slots their clients want. Weekdays 11:00am–4:00pm and 8:00–10:00pm, plus Sunday all day are off-peak, with more reformers and towers open and same-week availability far easier to find. Instructors building a new client base often start with off-peak hours, where it is easier to hold a consistent weekly slot, and add peak hours once their calendar is fuller.
Rate
Pilates studio hourly rate
Single-practitioner apparatus hours are $40 pre-tax per 55-minute session. Buying a 12- or 25-session pack lowers that to as little as $35 a session — the full package breakdown is on the pricing page. Duet, trio and four-or-more session rates aren't published yet; ask Dana or Antoni for current numbers on your tour. Classes can be cancelled up to 12 hours before the start time and the credit returns to your account. Private sessions need 24 hours. Professional rental bookings follow the 12-hour window, because the room is held out of the calendar and no one else can use it.
Rental details
How a rental session actually runs.
Each rental session is set for 55 minutes, which leaves time to tidy up and wipe down the equipment afterwards. You can book sessions starting on the hour, the half hour or the quarter hour. Reservations get you started, but you are free to move around and use different equipment as you please — the space has reformers, towers, chairs, barrels and wall towers, so explore and move based on what is available.
We really value the connections between independent professionals, so let us keep the lines of communication open for the best experience. Please remember the 12-hour cancellation policy, and let us all work together to keep the space clean and bright for everyone.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be certified to rent the Pilates studio?
Yes. Every instructor who books apparatus hours must hold a valid Pilates certification and carry professional liability insurance naming the studio entity as additional insured. We keep both on file before your first booking goes live.
Can I use more than one type of apparatus in a single session?
Yes. Bookings are not locked to a single reformer or tower. Instructors move a client between reformers, wall towers, chairs and ladder barrels within the same 55-minute session, based on what is free on the floor that hour.
How many reformers and towers are on the floor at once?
The floor holds a working set of reformers, towers, wall towers, Wunda and high chairs, and ladder barrels, plus spine correctors, mats and small props. Exact unit counts are confirmed on your tour, since the floor is arranged to keep instructors from working shoulder to shoulder.
What happens if my client is late or I run over the 55 minutes?
Sessions are built to 55 minutes specifically so there is a five-minute buffer for wiping down springs and straps before the next instructor's hour starts. Running over into someone else's booked hour is not permitted; if a client is late, the session still ends on the booked hour.
Is peak-hour apparatus availability different from off-peak?
Yes. Weekday mornings and evenings plus Saturday late morning are our peak windows (Weekdays 7:00–11:00am and 4:00–8:00pm, plus Saturday 8:00am–2:00pm), when most instructors want the same slots their clients want before or after work. Off-peak hours (Weekdays 11:00am–4:00pm and 8:00–10:00pm, plus Sunday all day) have more apparatus free and are easier to book same-week.
Can I bring my own clients to a duet or trio session?
Yes, duet and trio bookings on adjacent reformers are available at their own hourly rates, published on the pricing page. You are still responsible for each client's certification-appropriate programming and safety.
What if I cancel a booked apparatus hour?
Classes can be cancelled up to 12 hours before the start time and the credit returns to your account. Private sessions need 24 hours. Professional rental bookings follow the 12-hour window, because the room is held out of the calendar and no one else can use it.
