Renter FAQ

Studio & Treatment Room Rental — Frequently Asked Questions

Booking, rates, insurance, equipment, clients, access and policy — everything an independent practitioner asks before renting hourly space at 41 Union Square West.

Booking

Booking & scheduling

How hours actually get reserved, moved and repeated on the calendar.

Booking & scheduling

Do I need to sign a lease to rent a room?

No. You book hours on our online calendar — there is no lease, no security deposit in the commercial-lease sense, and no notice period required to stop booking.

Can I book a single hour, or do I have to commit to a recurring schedule?

You can book a single hour to start. Packages and the monthly tier exist for practitioners who already have a predictable weekly schedule and want a lower effective hourly rate — they are not a requirement to rent at all.

How far in advance can I book?

The online booking calendar is open for future dates as far ahead as we're currently scheduling. Peak windows fill fastest, so if you need a specific weekday morning or evening slot, book it as early as you can.

Can I book recurring weekly hours automatically?

Yes — once you have a booking account, you can reserve the same hour each week rather than re-booking manually every time. Ask about this during your tour or your first booking session.

Rates

Rates, packages & billing

Rates, packages & billing

Where can I see current rates?

Every published rate — hourly, half-day, full-day, package and monthly — lives on our pricing page, along with peak and off-peak windows and the full cancellation policy.

Do rates change based on time of day?

No — the published hourly rate is the rate at any time you book. Peak and off-peak windows affect how far ahead you'll likely need to book, not the price itself.

Is there a deposit required before I start renting?

There's no security deposit tied to a lease. Packages and the monthly tier are paid before those hours are used, similar to prepaying a class pack.

What's the cancellation policy?

Bookings can be cancelled or moved up to 12 hours before the reserved hour at no charge. Inside 12 hours, the hour is billed because the room is held out of the calendar for you and no one else can use it.

Insurance & licensing

Credentials required to rent

Insurance & licensing

What insurance do I need to rent a room?

You'll need proof of professional liability insurance naming the studio entity as additional insured. Most practitioners already carry a policy for their practice, and adding an additional insured is typically a quick request to your existing insurer rather than a new policy.

What if I don't have a policy yet?

You'll need to obtain one before your first booked session — professional liability policies for solo practitioners are widely available and reasonably priced. We can point you toward common providers other renters have used, but we don't sell or broker insurance ourselves.

Does the studio carry insurance that covers my sessions?

The studio carries its own commercial policy for the property and premises, but that does not replace your individual professional liability coverage for the services you personally provide to your clients.

What license or certification do you require?

A valid professional certification or state license for your specific modality — massage therapy, Pilates instruction, esthetics, physical therapy, acupuncture and similar practices all qualify provided the credential is current.

Equipment

Equipment, linens & supplies

Equipment, linens & supplies

Do I need to bring my own equipment?

No. Pilates apparatus, the treatment table and its heater, linens, hot stones, a face steamer and consumables like sanitizer are all provided. You bring your own modality-specific tools if you use anything unusual, but the room itself is fully equipped.

Can I bring my own linens or products instead of using the studio's?

You're welcome to use your own products if you have a preferred line, but linens are provided and laundered by the studio to keep turnover between sessions consistent for every renter using the room.

What if a piece of equipment is broken or unavailable?

Tell the front area as soon as you notice — you are not locked to one specific reformer or table, so we'll move your session to the next available piece of equipment rather than canceling it.

Is storage available for my personal supplies?

Storage options are available for renters who want to leave modality-specific tools on-site rather than carrying them in and out every session — ask about current availability on your tour.

Clients

Seeing your clients here

Can my clients find and pay for parking nearby?

41 Union Square West sits directly at the 14th Street–Union Square subway hub served by the 4/5/6, N/Q/R/W and L lines, so most clients arrive by transit rather than driving. Ask us about nearby parking options if a specific client needs to drive.

Is there a waiting area for my clients?

Yes — a private client waiting area is part of the shared facilities included in every rental, so your next client isn't standing in a hallway.

Can I see more than one client at a time in the same room?

The Pilates studio supports duet, trio and small group sessions at published group rates. The treatment room is built for one client at a time.

Am I allowed to market my own practice while renting here?

Yes. You're an independent practitioner building your own client base — the studio provides the room, equipment and booking infrastructure, but your marketing, pricing to your own clients, and client relationships are entirely yours.

Access

Building & studio access

Building & studio access

How do I access the building and the studio?

Building and studio access is set up once your credentials, insurance and booking account are confirmed. Specifics are covered on your tour and again before your first booked session.

What are the studio's operating hours?

Booking windows span early morning through evening on weekdays and through the weekend — see the peak and off-peak windows on our pricing page for the exact current hours.

Can I access the space outside my booked hours?

Access follows your booked hours. If you need extra time before or after a session for setup or a consult, book the additional quarter-hour or half-hour rather than planning to arrive unbooked.

Is there an elevator?

Yes — building elevator access is included as part of the shared facilities at 41 Union Square West.

Policies

General policies

General policies

What happens if I need to stop renting altogether?

Simply stop booking hours. There's no lease to terminate, no notice period, and no penalty for scaling down or stepping away.

Is there a limit on how many hours I can book per week?

There's no fixed cap, though availability depends on what's open on the calendar, especially during peak windows. Practitioners scaling toward a full-time schedule should talk to us directly about reserving a consistent weekly block.

Who do I contact if something comes up during a session?

Call (917) 999-8553 or ask whoever is at the front area — most day-to-day issues are resolved on the spot.
