Virtual Pilates
Live Online Pilates Classes and Private Sessions
The same instructors who teach at 41 Union Square West, on your mat instead of ours. Fifty-minute group classes, and 55-minute private sessions one-to-one or two-on-one.
The class
A mat class, not a stripped-down reformer class.
Our live online class is called Enhanced Pilates, and it is built as a mat class from the ground up rather than a reformer class with the apparatus taken away. It is a low-impact, full-body mat Pilates workout, and it runs 50 minutes — the same length as the in-person class at the studio.
The props we work with are a light-to-medium theraband, 1–3 lb weights, a 9-inch Pilates ball and a yoga block. If you have none of those, that is genuinely fine. The instruction is written to modify around whatever you have in the room with you, including nothing at all — a wall, a chair and a towel cover more than people expect. Tell your instructor what you have at the start and they will work with it.
Because it is live rather than recorded, the instructor can see you and correct you. That is the whole reason to book a class with a person in it instead of pressing play on a video: someone is watching your ribs, your neck and your pelvis and telling you what to change while you are still in the shape.
Private sessions online run 55 minutes, matching the studio. You can book them one-to-one, or two-on-one with a partner, friend or family member sharing the session and the cost. Virtual private credits can be used with any of our instructors, so you are not tied to a single teacher's calendar.
Virtual suits people the studio cannot always reach: clients who have moved out of the city but want to keep working with the instructor who knows their body, people travelling for work, and anyone whose week does not reliably contain a round trip to Union Square. It is also a reasonable way to keep momentum between studio sessions rather than replacing them.
If what you actually want is apparatus — reformer, wall tower, chair, barrel — that only happens in person. Our in-person classes and private sessions are where that work lives.

Virtual Pilates questions
Do I need Pilates equipment at home?
No. The virtual class is a mat class. The props we work with are a light-to-medium theraband, 1–3 lb weights, a 9-inch Pilates ball and a yoga block — but if you don't have them, say so at the start and your instructor will modify with whatever you do have. Nobody is expected to buy a reformer.
How long is a virtual session?
Classes run 50 minutes. One-to-one and two-on-one private sessions run 55 minutes, the same as in the studio.
Can I use a virtual package with any instructor?
Yes. Virtual class credits book any of our live online classes, and virtual private credits book a session with any of our instructors — you are not locked to one teacher.
How long do virtual credits last?
Each pack has its own window, and it starts at purchase rather than at first use. Single class credits are valid for 1 month and single private credits for 14 days; 6-packs are valid for 42 days and 12-packs for 92 days. The window is shown on each listing at checkout.
Is the two-on-one price per person or for the pair?
It is the price for the session, not per person. Two people share one instructor and one booking, so you split the cost between you however you like.
Can I mix virtual and in-person credits?
No — they are separate products in our booking system. Virtual credits book virtual sessions and in-person credits book studio sessions. If you want both, buy both, or email us and we will help you work out the split.

Prefer to be in the room?
Virtual is one way in. The apparatus floor at 41 Union Square West is the other.
